The University of Montevallo’s newest building opened its doors to students this week.

Strong Hall, the new home for the Department of Communication, was formerly known as the Mass Communication Building, but over the last 10 months, construction and renovation have transformed it into a state-of-the-art facility for the Mass Communication and Communication Studies programs.

The new part of the building is home to a new high definition television studio, broadcast control room, audio room and 19-seat computer lab. The new studio includes a custom set that features color-changing LEDs.

The old Mass Comm Building was renovated to include new classrooms, faculty offices and a conference room. The existing building and the new construction are connected by a large corridor that provides ample space for student to gather.

The University will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony Sept. 6 at 3:30 p.m.
