On Thursday October 21, Alpha Delta Pi hosted the first philanthropy event of the fall semester. It consisted of competitive relay race and a pop tab fundraiser to raise money and awareness for their philanthropy, the Ronald McDonald House.
The outdoor competition encompassed a tug of roar, a diamond dash relay race, and a bean bag toss. The relay race included dizzy bat, group hoola hoop line, and a blanket wheelbarrow race. Each fraternity and sorority raced against another for a chance to beat the others out.
The pop tab fundraiser encouraged all the organizations to collect the pop tabs off of aluminum cans and turn them in to the ADPi philanthropy chair, Morgan Gray.
These pop tabs go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities who then turn them into the local recycling center in exchange for money. The money then goes to help parents and families of children in the hospital to provide housing for them while their child is being taken care of at the hospital.
Students raised 47.2 pounds of pop tabs!
The prize for winning the entire competition was a check for the winning chapter’s philanthropy. The winner of the event was Delta Gamma, so they received a check for their philanthropy, Service for Sight.
