The LEC or known as the Learning enrichment center is a tutoring service that is offered for the students of the University of Montevallo on the bottom floor of the Carmichael Library.
The director of the program’s operations is Randi Tubbs and the program has been here for students for the past 9 years. Tubbs office is located in the back corner of the bottom floor of the library and is always open for people to drop in for tutoring or to set up an individual session with a tutor.
The center offers a variety of tutoring services ranging from one on one tutoring to group tutoring to even drop in tutoring whenever a student needs it.
They offer tutoring in a variety of subjects with the top three being accounting, science, and math subjects. Tubbs offered workshops this past year as well to give students even more helpful options.
She advertises the program in a variety of ways from mass emails to multiple flyers to constantly be keeping the student body informed of what is going on throughout the semester.
A major component that attracts students is the help is free so anyone is welcome to receive it when they feel they need it. Tubbs hope to keep the center as inviting and comfortable as it has always been and expects the center to continue to grow. The calm atsmosphere is peaceful for students and is a good way to help them receive maximum results in their courses.
