Last night, my sorority, Phi Mu, held our second Grand Slam Softball Tournament. There were 8 teams that participated in a single elimination tournament to help raise money for our philanthropy, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, or CMNH.

While game were being played, supporters cheered their team on and enjoyed in warm afternoon.

Hotdogs, hamburgers, cupcakes, and drinks were offered to everyone for $1. These were extra donations raised for CMNH.

There was also a face painting booth and corn hole boards set up for extra activities.

Many of our members got the phrase “FTK” painted on their faces. “FTK” stand for “for the kids” and it reminds us that we our doing this event and sending donations all for the kids at the hospitals.

One member, Sarah Engle loves supporting CMNH since it is so local to our chapter in Birmingham. She loves making an impact on the workers, and kids at CMNH and it encourages her to work harder.

Though there were only 2 winning teams, having a fun event that can raise money for such a great cause is the real purpose of playing.

The winners were Chi Omega and Alpha Kappa Lambda and they received $50 checks for their individual philanthropies.
