Winter is coming, but not before the University of Montevallo’s Wind Ensemble blows us away with an end of the year winter concert.
Every Fall semester, the Wind Ensemble comes together the week before finals and performs their classical repertoire of contemporary pieces and holiday music.
The ensemble normally puts on two concerts in the semester.
Senior music education major, Ryan Meier, says “this one we try to make it more festive and more fun.”
Music professor and conductor Dr. Joe Ardviono gives students the opportunity to showcase their talents and hard work with a piece they’ve hand picked themselves.
Alec Lee, senior tenor trombone musician, played “Boulevard”, a contemporary piece composed by Eric Cook.
Lee says, “It has a lot of high flourishes, lots of lip trills. It’s very high energy.”
