The City of Montevallo held their annual Christmas tree lighting and parade on Thursday, November 29th.
This events kicked off the holiday season in Montevallo as residents know it. “I like the small town feel that Montevallo gives off when it does events like this.” spoke Ivy Claire Jones on the evening festivities.
The Holiday events were announced by Montevallo resident DJ Bob who MC’ed the tree lighting and parade. “It’s like our New Year’s Ball drop, but we’re lighting a Christmas tree” said Bob during the 5:30 PM tree lighting ceremony.
The Montevallo Community Band provided music for the events with classic tunes such as “Oh Christmas Tree” during an interlude between the tree lighting and parade start.
Proceeding the 6 o’clock parade followed which included city officials, Montevallo city schools organizations, representative from the University, as well as local businesses.
The festivities ended with a Christmas icon: Santa Claus and his sleigh on the last float of the night.
