The city of Montevallo wrapped up its nearly five-million dollar downtown street-scape project earlier this year.

Mayor Cost says that other than making the town more accessible for everyone, “It communicates a greater sense of pride in our community and investment in our community. Businesses see that and they want to move to Montevallo.”

Since the new and improved roads, sidewalks, and parking spaces, the small town has welcomed more businesses like Taco Bell, Frios Pops, and their newly opened boutique “Brass Monkey.”

Brass Monkey owner Dakota and Mason Kerth say that small towns like Montevallo appeal to boutiques like their own.

Mayor Cost is looking forward to businesses that want to call Downtown Montevallo their home.

“In 2016 Montevallo became a designated Main St. Alabama Community. This has enabled us to support small businesses in ways we’ve never been able to do so before.”

For those who are looking to try new places, Main St. will have you covered in the upcoming months.

Montevallo will be welcoming a new coffee shop next door to Brass Monkey, Daylight Donuts next to Frios Pops, a Pizza place across the street from the church on Main St. and a new bakery.

Mayor Cost says that her goal is to do all that she can to support these businesses and visit them as frequently as possible.
