Have you heard of the story of “Babes in Toyland” where the three realms of Mother Goose Land, Spider Forest, and Toyland are wrapped in one?

Tuscaloosa Children’s Theatre is bringing this holiday musical to the Historic Bama Theatre in Downtown Tuscaloosa this weekend, Dec. 7-9.

“Babes in Toyland” is inspired by the classic operetta by Victor Herbert and tells the story of characters from different nursery rhymes.

Margaret Carr plays Mistress Mary, which is based from the nursery rhyme “Mary, Mary Quite Contrary.”

Carr says the show will remind audiences of the magic of Christmas and how the holiday season has the power of bringing people together.

“We have an entire scene where we’re decorating Mother Goose Land and I think that scene captures a lot of the wholesomeness and the family that the town is,” said Carr. “Because everyone knows each other in the town.”

TCT’s production holds almost 70 cast members from ages 5 to 18 from Tuscaloosa County and other surrounding areas including Bibb County.
