“First few days business is good…people just keep telling me how happy they are that I’m here.” Cynthia Bertolone said

The owner of “Cake Art” in Pelham and now her new shop “C’s Cake and Coffee House” is excited to be apart of the Montevallo business community.

Dr. Bobby Shunnarah first introduced the idea of Bertolone bringing her well known cakes to the small town and she loved it.

“I love Montevallo, I support Montevallo, and Montevallo supports me.”

With a trendy patio and bright green umbrellas, C’s Cake and Coffee House has been open for business since this past January. Students and local residents have been flooding the retro coffee shop in excitement to try the gourmet food.

“The student’s are really enjoying it, they are very happy that I’m here, they needed a place where they can have coffee, hangout, be away from the school for a little bit.” Bertolone said.

Students have been looking for a place to escape and socialize and the new coffee shop brought just what they needed.

“It’s fun its nice to be able to get off campus and have time not to think about school in an environment that’s homey because not everything fits together and everyone is super nice and friendly and it’s just a good way to escape for a little bit” said Jill Sharpe a University of Montevallo student.

Not only does the shop bring a homey and trendy feel to the town, they’ve also brought fresh panini sandwiches, gourmet cakes, home made lasagna trays, and many more.

With the warmer weather around the corner, Montevallo residents are excited to spend more time eating good food with good company, while Mrs. Bertolone is ready to welcome the new faces.

C’s Cake and Coffee House is open Monday-Sunday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. For more information and social media visit the Coffee House’s Facebook page
