This past Saturday, March 16 the city of Montevallo hosted their 2nd annual “Love Montevallo Day.” A day that is set to celebrate Montevallo’s accomplishments and new projects was extra special this year.
Montevallo resident Terry Arnold said, “The great thing about something like this is that it will be available for this generation and for all generations to come.”
Mayor Hollie Cost used the grand opening of Shoal Creek Park to host “Love Montevallo Day.” To kick off the event, Terry Arnold and his wife released hawks out into the park.
“They had the look in their eye of a wild thing for sure. But I notice this, that those birds once they left, they didn’t go very far. They just simply laid in those trees, so we hope they stay here.” Arnold said.
Other than celebrating the grand opening of the park and the ribbon cutting of the bridge, the park held a day full of events. There was food and festivities, raffle giveaways, and the 5k Color Run.
Shoal Creek Park is the perfect place to host events, parties, or just get some fresh air. Mayor Cost hopes to not only bring the community together, but to also promote diversity in the town.
