Montevallo First Baptist Church is trying a new outreach program this semester. They’re calling it Stacks of Jacks or Taco Tuesday, depending on the week.
Each week student leaders in the church come together to prepare a meal for others. On alternating weeks they serve pancakes or tacos.
The ministry is hoping this will build relationships with students without pressure. “We’re hoping the students know we are here and care about them,” said College Minister Karla Birdsong. “Plus, there’s always good food.”
The ministry is using this program as a way to get to know students on campus better. At this weekly event, it is just a time to meet new friends and fellowship around food.
“I hope this event brings more friendships around campus,” said Lily Cooper, “so that we can eventually build those deeper relationships.”
Any college students are welcomed to attend every Tuesday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Montevallo First Baptist Church.
