“With a degree in communication it can empower you to reach so much farther than you could possibly imagine” – Julia Davis

COMs students in their senior capstone are “Reaching New Heights” as they prepare for the 9th annual COMs Day.

The students in the senior capstone course are working diligently to “show the strengths of what the program can do,” says the chair of the PR & Outreach Committee, Jonathan Brewer.

Two years ago, Brewer was undecided about what he wanted to do until he attended the event.

COMs Day is a way for students who are undeclared to learn more about the program and meet some of the professors and current students.

Each year the students in the capstone class choose a theme for the event. This year the theme is “Reaching New Heights.”

The students picked this theme because they believe the communication studies programs, widely known as COMs on campus, empowers students to go further in and outside the classroom.

Camilla Summerford, a senior in the capstone class, says “COMs has empowered [her] by equipping [her] with the necessary skills to create and maintain positive professional and personal relationships.

This year COMS day will be at the Student Activity Center on October 31st from 1 PM – 4 PM.
