The University of Montevallo celebrated another successful Carnival for A Cause event. The carnival is an annual event organized by the Student Government Association.

Each year student organizations such as Purple Victory, Student Art Association, Urge and others came together to raise funds for a cause of their choose.

This year, the funds raised went to UM’s emergency funds, which helps students from the university have a cushion to fall back in case of unforeseen circumstances.

SGA started the event six years ago, since then organizations donate twenty dollars to set up a booth in Main Quad, enticing students and community members to participate in in activates such as pool noodle dual fights, face painting, soda toss, dunking booth and others.

The funds raised in the carnival, as stated by Anakate Andrasko, the SGA member over the event, allows students to have something to fall on in the event of family or disability situations.

This year, SGA, “donated at least four-hundred bucks to the emergency fund,” says Andrasko.

“We had a great turnout, we hope the event can grow more as the years go on, as it is an annual event,” said Dakota Patrick, a booth host.
