Phi Mu joined Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (AKA) in making dresses Nov.21 in Wills Hall at the University of Montevallo.

This has been done by the Mu Mu chapter of AKA twice but this will be the first time they chose to partner with another organization.

AKA chose to create no sew dresses in order to complete them quickly and produce more at a time.

Both groups struggled with the simple instructions but they worked together and eventually produced over 40 dresses.

Dresses were not the only goal for that night it was partnership.

“It is part of our purpose to promote unity and friendship among college women so I thought asking Phi Mu to join would be perfect.” Said Torian Blackburn President of the Mu Mu Chapter.

Both sororities said there was a gap between Pan-Hellenic and National Pan-Hellenic Council

on campus that they would like to shut

“We never do things with NPHC so I was excited!” said Phi Mu sisterly relations chair Abby Askins

The AKA chapter at the University of Montevallo are not the only ones participating in making dresses this is a worldwide challenge for AKA.
