The University of Montevallo plans to resume in-person classes this fall, according to an email sent to students, faculty and staff.

University leaders are monitoring developments related to COVID-19 “with the guidance of federal and state officials,” according to the email.

“The safety of UM students, faculty and staff is paramount,” the email read, “and any future decisions involving instructional changes will be communicated electronically to campus should the need arise.”

UM is also extending the deadline for deposits for the fall semester until June 1.

The email also said that the university is “excited to welcome new and returning students safely to campus residence halls in the fall.”

UM’s Office of Housing and Residence worked with students throughout the month of April to allow them back on campus to move out of their dorms. However, a small number of students were allowed to continue living on campus.

The university also postponed spring graduation, which was supposed to take place May 2, to Aug. 7, as we previously reported.
