The University of Montevallo will remove the names of two campus buildings, following the recommendation of a working group led by UM trustees.
The Board of Trustees voted in favor of removing the names of Comer Hall and Bibb Graves Hall during a virtual meeting Sept. 29.
The buildings were named after Alabama governors from the early 20th century. Both men were supporters of white supremacy and segregation, according to a statement released by UM.
UM says another working group will be formed in the next few weeks to review the process of naming buildings on campus.
