Flu season is just around the corner, and many students wonder what health risks it poses with the pandemic already here. With COVID cases on the rise throughout the country, it is crucial to listen to health experts and see just how we can pull out of this together. I listened to E.R. Doctor William Farmer to see what campus students can do to stay safe.

Dr. Farmer was a former E.R Doctor that spent 20 years in emergency care and now works at a family clinique in Evergreen and Andalusia, AL. He cannot stress enough about how CDC guidelines do impact students and young people, how it is up to them to keep their campus safe, and not get to the point of complete withdrawal from the university.

When asked just how students keep safe, he said, “Please wear a mask, it is not that hard, remember when I wear a mask I am trying to protect myself, and I am trying to protect you.”

Masks have been a hot button issue on many campuses as well as across America. Throughout the interview, he could not stress enough how social distancing AND wearing masks really do help stop this pandemic and save lives. Dr. Farmer states students at universities big and small need to “take this seriously” and “just because you are young does not mean it cannot affect you.”

You can take a look at the whole interview on Youtube and see just for yourself what ways you can prepare on campus for this upcoming season.
