It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the town of Montevallo.

On December 3, 2020, Montevallo’s Chamber of Commerce hosted the towns annual Christmas Parade on Main Street. The parade started at 6 p.m. at Wadsworth street, went all the way through town and ended at Shelby Street.

This is one night out of the year the whole town gets together and lines the street to spread the Christmas spirit. The Montevallo Chamber of Commerce has hosted this event for over 25 years.

Member of the Chamber of Commerce and “Montevallo Main Street” Board of Directors, Ken Jones was concerned about how COVID-19 would effect the city’s Christmas tradition.

Jones says, “As far as how it’s going to go this year, we think it’s going to be scaled back a little bit with the COVID situation; not as many participants, may not be as many people downtown watching it”.

A few hours later, the streets were filled with people. COVID couldn’t dampen Montevallo’s Christmas spirit.

Some participants of this years parade include the Montevallo High School Marching Band, Freddie the Falcon and the fire department. Santa and Mrs. Claus even made an appearance.
