Pita Pit opens in Farmer Hall

Farmer Hall has wrapped up construction on its latest addition. The Mediterranean-style restaurant Pita Pit opened the first week of the spring semester. The restaurant opening was originally scheduled for 2020, but was delayed due to COVID.

Pita Pit offers wraps, salads and of course, pitas. It replaces Moe’s Southwest, which closed their Farmer Hall location last semester.

Employees at Pita Pit say the new restaurant has been well received during its first two weeks. However, they say they are still limited on workers, causing some backups at times.

Pita Pit employee Robert McHenry says, “I’d be on the grill sometimes. I’ll be on the front-line, and I’ll be a cashier. It’s mainly because we’re still kind of understaffed. So far, business has been very good our first week. We were slammed, and this week it’s not so much different.”

McHenry says health and safety measures are a priority for Pita Pit employees and customers.

“We make sure to follow all of the COVID guidelines. Especially between sandwiches, we make sure to change our gloves and wash our hands,” he said.
