The University of Montevallo offers a wide range of student activities on campus. Students say no matter what your interests, you can find your place at UM. UM officials say that being involved on campus helps students to make connections in the community.
Counselors say that extracurricular activities are also a way for new students to find friends. There are academic, athletic and hobby-based clubs on campus. There are also a few community service organizations as well.

Activities Available on Campus
The 90 organizations on campus include crochet club, student art association, Student Government Association, religious organizations, intermural sports and more.

The University of Montevallo is an NCAA Division II school and competes in the Gulf South Conference and Peach Belt Conference.
During the fall semester, soccer, volleyball, basketball and cross country compete. In the spring semester, baseball, softball, lacrosse, track and field and golf compete.
Although it is not a sport, the university also has an Outdoor Scholar’s Program. It hosts a variety of teams including an award-winning fishing and archery team. This program is unlike any other program that other universities offer.
Students do not have to be on a team to be a part of the Outdoor Scholar’s Program, just be interested in outdoor activities. The program includes small groups that teach the students about hunting, shooting, fishing and more. It also includes activities like expos and wild game dinners that members can attend. Each student has the opportunity to go on a hunting or fishing trip with the program.
Benefits of Joining
Some benefits for joining include the abilities for students to stay active and up-to-date with campus life. Most organizations support each other, bringing a sense of unity to the campus. This makes it easier for students to meet other people who are interested or involved in other activities and seeing how they enjoy their activity.
Overall, students getting involved on campus makes the campus have the ability to have all of the organizations and events it has. Counselors say it helps people meet, helps students find friends and helps the campus become unified. Student life is a big part of the university and will continue to be.
Students can get involved in clubs, Greek organizations, sports and other groups. There is most likely something offered to please every group on campus. If there is not, students can start a new club. To learn more about all clubs offered on campus, visit the student organization website.
