UM Environmental Club held a clothing swap for climate change week. The event was held in Wills Hall on Wednesday, October 20 from 3 to 5 pm.

The main goal of the swap was to help promote sustainability, and to help keep clothes out of local landfills.

This wasn’t the only event that was held to promote sustainability. Other events were held around the city of Montevallo throughout the entire week as well.

The kickoff for climate change week started out with tree planting.

“E-Club holds meetings every Tuesday and Friday and for one of our Tuesday meetings, we decided to do a clothing swap,” says Teah Thompson student in Environmental Club.

Anyone could come to pick up clothing and drop off items as well.

Although last year the swap wasn’t held, it’s back and better than ever. Thompson says, “We love the clothing swap, we just had to skip previous year due to covid. We were so excited once we found out we could hold the event.”

Making an effort to help keep clothing out of landfills fights the climate crisis one change at a time.
