On Thursday, October 28th, The University of Montevallo’s Communications Department held its annual Senior Showcase.

The showcase was held in the new Center for the Arts building on campus. The purpose of the event is for select COMS seniors to pitch themselves using the skills they have learned in class.

During the event, seniors had the chance to present themselves to faculty, family, and their peers.

A poster board was the key element of the senior’s table, but each table was unique in its own way. Many seniors included other elements that defined their skills or themselves for their tables.

Another important part of the event every year is the key theme for the showcase. This year, the key theme was connect. Naturally, the word meant something different for each student present.

University of Montevallo senior, Yeldray Perkins, expressed why connecting with others is her favorite part of communicating.

“That’s how we grow in life. If you have a good connection with somebody- if you have a lot of networks. You’re never stuck,” Perkins said.

The University of Montevallo prides itself on building life-long connections between students, professors, and the community. This event is another reflection of its mission; to keep us all connected.
