The Environmental Club and other organizations on campus hosted Earth Fest. The event took place on April 21 out on Main Quad.

Earth Fest was a celebration for Earth Day which is on April 22. The event was a way to raise awareness about issues related to climate change, pollution, and environmental justice issues.

Some of the organizations that were present at Earth Fest were Birmingham Zoo, McWane Science Center, and Oak Mountain State Park.

“The point of Earth Fest is not to focus on how we are hurting Mother Nature, but to focus on way we can celebrate nature,” said Dr. Susan Caplow, professor of environmental studies.

Earth Fest had many different Earth related activies, food trucks, and live music as well for the event.

Ashley Lawson, a junior majoring in Environmental Studies, said that Earth Fest is a great way to get people involved and learning and interacting about the importance of the Earth.

“This is a great way to get people’s attention with something fun, and interactive to learn about the importance of our Earth,” said Lawson.

More events were held throughout the week as well. There were other events such as a clothing swap, vallo cycle bike ride, and litter cleanup.
