The University of Montevallo bass fishing team hosted a fish fry on Main Quad on April 27th to benefit University of Central Florida angler Will Carpenter.
Plates were $10 each and included filets, fries, coleslaw, and hushpuppies.
Graduate assistant Adam Carroll, who runs smaller events like this to help take some of the workload off of coach William Crawford, said the team wanted to do something for fellow collegiate angler to help in his fight against cancer.
“We figured what better way [to help] than to raise some funds through a fish fry here on campus,” said Carroll.
Although the team does not personally know Carpenter, Carroll said they know he is a great angler and wanted to join in on the cause.
According to Carroll, the team sold out of everything within an hour. “We were not expecting that big of a crowd! We apologize to anyone who didn’t get a plate.”
