The University of Montevallo Bookstore, Freddie’s Books & More, partnered with Follet Higher Education in May of this year. Up until October 6, the bookstore had a banner to hold the place of a permanent sign.

Due to the City of Montevallo having to approve the design to align with the historical requirements, plans took longer than expected to complete.

The new sign features UM’s mascot, Freddie the Falcon, as a central part of the design.

Store Manager, Dan Fitts; says, “We promote the university, and we love the idea of Freddie the Falcon being on the front of the bookstore.”

Since the rebranding process started in May, Fitts says there is no hard data on how the store is doing with the new partnership. However, Fitts says the sign is a great way to draw people into the bookstore. “I mean, who doesn’t like the mascot?”
