Montevallo has a coffee shop again. Baba Java at the Strand is officially open.

Baba Java will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. It takes over where The Strand Coffeehouse used to be. The Strand closed in December of last year, leaving Montevallo without a coffee shop for a few months.

This is Baba Java’s 2nd location. Their first in Hoover.

In an Instagram post, they say “We know that we are new to the neighborhood, but we are very encouraged by the coffee community that has already welcomed us with open arms.”

Their menu is available to look at online. They serve staples such as espressos, macchiatos and cold brews. They also offer more adventurous items such as a Honey Habañero latte and a colaspresso; which is an espresso with Mexican Coke and Vanilla syrup.

Their is also a variety of teas and non caffeine drinks to choose from.

Baba Java is dedicated to providing fresh grown coffee and provides coffee grounds from all over the world. From China to Yemen to Brazil.

Baba means “father” in Arabic and Java is another word for coffee.
