The University is a school known for the talent with being a liberal arts school. The schools has many programs but a good majority of the population of students are in the musical theatre department. As well, as its traditional homecoming known as College Night. However, student Natalie Anderson has taken things to the next level with writing music. Anderson is a Musical Theatre major and will be graduating in December of 2023.

While writing music Anderson said the journey of writing music isn’t as easy as it may seems. “Seeing the idea come to life would have to be the most rewarding part, there has been many of times I have just sat at the piano and fiddle with different notes and chords and don’t exactly know where I’m going with it. While writing music may not be easy Anderson has a talent with the ear of music.
Many times you wonder how do hit songs become hit songs and the challenges that comes within creating the music or the writers journey to get to the point that we listening to which is the finished product. With the journey may not be easy they sure do seem like a breeze and so rewarding when they finished.
Anderson said the best and most challenge experience she has had throughout her journey with being a songwriter or lyrics has been “being able to tie my personal experiences and thoughts out on paper which has helped me with creating music. I have be blessed to be able to turn my challenges into art and have connected and healed in ways by writing.”

Anderson continued, “With that being such a healing way it has also been very nerve wreaking because the fact of me being vulnerable and opening up about things that goes in my life and creating something that’s very emotional and close to my heart but allowing the world to judge it and some not fully connecting or understanding my experiences.”
When it comes to the music industry or within the eye of people judgement labels gets created and many people are listen to artist within due to a certain genre so when asked what was a genre she was classify herself in she said, “I feel like its not, not pop because lyrically I am in the pop genre but I think musically. My songs and sounds would be indie alternative because of my acoustic and laid back vibe. Which you don’t see much of in mainstream pop.”
The song Anderson performed is titled “Terms and Conditions” which is a song created from a time when Anderson was in a place where she made a committed vogue to herself that “before I get into any relationship I have to lay out all of my dirty laundry.” She said, it’s to help her love partner know fully what he is getting himself into before being committed to each other.
“I think everyone should know things about there partners before they make a lifetime commitment. The good, bad, cute, and ugly and having that talk from the jump because I also have the fear of letting people in and then they leave which is shown a lot within this song,” Anderson said.
