The University of Montevallo’s homecoming tradition is one unlike any other. After a long season of late night rehearsals, athletic practices and numerous cabinet meetings, Gold Side claimed their 48th College Night Victory.
The leaders, cast and cabinet members from both sides filled the Palmer Stage following both shows, anticipating the announcement of the winner. After a teasing speech, SGA President, Colton Rodano, said the side’s catch phrase, “Pure as Gold.”
As issues of newspaper announcing the Gold Side victory flew to the air and the side fell to the floor in celebration, cheers filled the auditorium.
Gold Side show recap
Gold Side’s show “To Live and Die” told the story of 2 gods on their journey through the human realm in search of the meaning of life. Accompanying them are two humans, Olive and Jack.
Elsya, the god of life has a cynical disposition about creating life just for it to be taken away by Moros, the god of death, who decides to make the most of his journey on earth and soak in all that the human life has to offer.
The 2 gods are sent down to earth by their leader, Croana who is the god of time. She tasks them with finding Ordea, the old leader of the gods who left to join the human realm. Once they find her, Elsya and Moros are able to rediscover the purpose of their jobs and what it means to live and die.
Once sent to earth, they find themselves in the bedroom of heart transplant patient, Olive and her protective older brother, Jack.
After convincing Jack to lend a hand, the group of four set out on their adventure to find Ordea. Their first stop is Mida’s market, where the god of intuition disguised as a human is able to point them in the right direction.
After a stop at the local bar and library, they finally locate Ordea. Together, they discover that through their journey with Jack and Olive, they learned that being a god is about appreciating the beauty in the temporary nature of life, despite not being able to experience themselves.
At the end of the night, Elsya and Moros are forced to recognize the truth that it is time to take Olive’s soul back to Eterna, the realm of the gods. Their time with Olive and Jack then becomes a memory that they now cherish.
Moments become memories, life ends in death. Death has no remedy, so savor every breath

Purple Side show recap
Purple Side’s show, “Pleasant Vanished” told the story of a mass disappearance in the town of Pleasant. The main character Carolyn was left a journal from her aunt, who wrote about the days leading up to the disappearance.
Carolyn enlists the help of her professor, Eric, to get to the bottom of the mystery.
After interviewing town members left behind, Carolyn discovers that her father, who she hasn’t seen since she was a child, was the Mayor of Pleasant. Eric then reveals that he was once very close friends with her father, Sebastian.
Eric convinces her that Sebastian was responsible for the vanishing which leads Carolyn to visit him.
After talking to her father, Carolyn learns the truth that Eric framed Sebastian as responsible for the mass disappearance, when it was himself who orchestrated it all along.
Once Eric joins them, he reveals how he made it happen. By putting microbots into the water tower, the town members ingested the bots and were mind controlled. The bots led their host bodies to the bottom of the ocean.
While he was hiding out in his desolate town, Sebastian studied the notes Eric left behind and recreated a single microbot to use as revenge if Eric ever returned.
Once Eric ingested the microbot through drinking a glass of water offered to him by Sebastian, he met the same fate as the rest of Pleasant.

Pleasant is magic made real!
