The American Village in Montevallo is back with their annual Festival of Tulips.This event will be held between February 24th to March 16th.

Admission will be $5 and will be open to the public between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m Monday through Saturday. On Sunday, it will be from noon to 4 p.m. with weather being dependent across all days.

Attendees will be able to pick tulips for the price of $2 each. The tulips offered include Morris Gudanov, Thanks and Praise, Big Ups, Gentle Giants, Chardonnay, Big Apricot, Best-Pink and others. 

The organization will provide buckets and wrapping for the tulips picked along with a guide on how to take care of the tulips once you’re home.

How to Pick Tulips

  • Grab a picking basket
  • When you find a tulip you want, reach down as close to the soil level as possible, grasp the stem and pull up flower and bulb.
  • Pick as many tulips as you want, but ONLY PICK what you intend to purchase.
  • Count your tulips as you pick them. You must know the number you picked to check out.
  • Bring your basket to the tent to check out.
  • Tell us the number of tulips you have. We will check you out and give you a tulip care sheet.
  • OPTIONAL: Kraft paper and masking tape will be available if you want to wrap your tulips before checking out.

Rules for the Tulip Field: 

  • Pick only the tulips you intend to purchase. Please do not pull flowers and leave them on the ground.
  • Do not lay in, walk in or walk across or run in flower beds. Adults are responsible for children in your group.
  • Professional photographers must agree to, sign and adhere to our photography policy. Please check in at the Gift Shop for a copy if you have not done so.
  • Watch your step. The ground may be uneven and muddy.
  • Bicycles and skateboards are not permitted in the field.
  • Footballs, frisbees and other items that may harm the tulips are not permitted.
  • Pets are not permitted.
  • Drones are not permitted.
  • Please take photographs, but respect others’ enjoyment of the tulips.
    Photographs taken on site by staff or professional photographers may be used by the American Village for marketing purposes.

Food trucks and refreshments will be available with t-shirts for sale. Food trucks will vary from day-to-day.
