MONTEVALLO, Ala.- UM’s Alpha Gamma Delta held their annual philanthropy Lip Jam on Nov. 7. The $5 entry fee went towards their philanthropy, The Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation, whose goal is to fight hunger across the US in association with Meals on Wheels and Feeding America.
This year Alpha Gamma Delta raised over $1,500 from Lip Jam.
All of UM’s Greek organizations were given the opportunity to participate with a lip sync performance that fit this year’s theme: cartoons. Three professors judged the performances, and the winners of the different categories received prizes.
Like every year, AGD performed their own lip sync choreography while the judges deliberated. This year AGD performed to a series of “Monster High” songs while dressed as different characters from the “Monster High” universe.
My favorite part of Lip Jam has to be seeing all of the Greek life on campus come together.

The winners of the competition were Phi Mu as “Finneas and Ferb” and Alpha Kappa Lambda as “Scooby-Doo.”
“My favorite group to watch was Phi Mu. They had amazing choreography, and I could really tell they worked hard on their dance,” said Alpha Delta Pi member Morgan Noel.
Other groups included:
- Phi Gamma Delta as “SpongeBob SquarePants.”
- Alpha Delta Pi as “Stephen Universe.”
- Chi Omega as “Veggie Tales.”
- Delta Gamma as “My Little Pony.”
“My favorite part of Lip Jam has to be seeing all of the Greek life on campus come together and have a great time while raising money, and seeing the overall passion everyone has for this philanthropy,” said Morgan.
“My favorite part about Lip Jam was watching all the unique performances and getting to see the really amazing dance numbers,” said Phi Gamma Delta member Anthony Lopez. “I got to perform with my brothers of Fiji, and we got to do SpongeBob. It was really fun.”
