MONTEVALLO, Ala. — The University of Montevallo’s Theatre Department opens their spring play “POTUS” by Selena Fillinger on Thursday, Feb. 27. The show will run until Sunday, March 2 on the Rebecca J. Luker Stage, in the DiscoverShelby Theatre located in the Alan and Lindsay Song Center for the Arts.

“POTUS” is described by UM Theatre Department’s socials as an “amazing comedy about the seven women who really run the White House.”

“POTUS” first premiered on Broadway in April 2022.

In a video shared by the theatre department, director Chalethia Williams shared one of her favorite parts about directing the show is that it is an all women production.

“We get to play around a lot with the words that have been written and tell this story,” said Williams. “I like telling the story and I’m enjoying working with these young ladies here.”

“POTUS” has shows at 7:30 p.m. from Feb. 27 to March 1. As well as additional shows at 2:00 p.m. on March 1 and 2.
