MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo Police Department is investigating an altercation involving a UM student and another person holding a knife in the Carmichael Library parking lot late Tuesday night, according to an email sent by UMPD to university students and employees.

The altercation happened around midnight. According to the email, a UM student was sitting in their car when the assailant opened the door and started the confrontation.

The assailant dropped the knife and ran off campus.

No one was stabbed, according to UMPD.

The UM student was taken to the hospital to be evaluated and has since been released.

UMPD is searching for the attacker. According to the email, the person was described as a white male wearing blue jeans and a dark-colored long sleeve shirt.

According to the email, this is considered an isolated incident. UMPD will be increasing patrols in all campus parking lots.
