MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo will be moving its spring Commencement indoors to the McChesney Student Activity Center this Saturday, May 3, at 9 a.m., according to an email sent to students, faculty and staff.

The ceremony was originally set to take place on the lawn at Flowerhill, the home of the university president. However, forecasts of heavy rain over the next few days are causing the change of plans.

Due to limited seating inside Central State Bank Arena, each graduate will receive five tickets for guests to attend the ceremony. Tickets will be available through the University Tickets website starting at noon on May 2. Tickets will not be required for wheelchair users or children who sit on an adult’s lap, according to the email.

The University of Montevallo Mass Communication Program will be livestreaming the graduation ceremony on the MontevalloForYou channel on YouTube.

The livestream will also be shown in Palmer Auditorium, which will be open for overflow seating. Tickets are not required to watch from Palmer.
