MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Thanksgiving season was just a week ago. At the University of Montevallo, there was a COMM Friendsgiving on Nov. 13.
This event was hosted by all faculty as a gathering place to relax and enjoy the food.
This is around the time when holidays and due dates for assignments are close to one another for students. Schools close because of Thanksgiving break, winter break, or dates for assignments and projects coincide with other classes.
It is open to all faculty and students. As people filled up the Strong Hall lobby, the event began.
The COMM Thanksgiving has been going on for the last two years and it is hosted by all faculty as a way to give back to the community through food and presence.
Dr. Ray Ozley made the chili with his daughter, Katie, who is an UM Communication Studies alumna. He’s glad everyone enjoyed the event and the food.
Aroush Naroos, a political science and sociology major, was invited by Dr. Ozley. She said, “This is exemplary of how much community there is in this department.” It was a fun time for her.

Mass Communication alumnus Liam Nagle, found out about this event through an Instagram post and decided to attend. Liam saw a lot of people he hadn’t seen in a long time. He knew people spent a lot of effort setting up and the place looked really nice.
He thoroughly enjoyed the variety of food from big potatoes to crackers. He had an amazing time.
The event began with everyone lining up for chili in the lobby filled with chatter, and ended with attendees heading out with a stomach filled with delicious foods and desserts in a positive atmosphere.
