MONTEVALLO, Ala. — On Saturday, the University of Montevallo’s Alpha Gamma Delta chapter and the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s chapter, held their annual International Reunion Day. They celebrated their sisterhood and participated in a full day of service by packing Easter baskets.
As Easter is few months away, families are celebrating and kids are opening baskets. This is not a reality for every kid, but there are assistant programs to help provide relief and will keep the magic of Easter alive for the kids. The Shelby Emergency Assistance or SEA is one local program that helps provide this for families.
The Shelby Emergency Assistance or Sea, “Since 1973, SEA has been the premier nonprofit in Shelby County dedicated to providing comprehensive services to meet basic needs and long-term self sufficiency.”
Alpha Gamma Delta’s philanthropic focus is fighting hunger. The sorority has hosted canned food drives and worked with programs like Manna Ministries and SEA to provide help to the community.
The two chapters got together and packed the baskets with items like coloring books, crayons, slinkies, toy cars, sunglasses, hand lotions, and various snacks for the children.
The event ended with a shared meal between the two chapters and a feeling of empowerment to be able to provide kids with Easter magic this year.
Montevallo’s Alpha Gamma Delta Recruitment chair, Megan Hasty stated, “Being able to come together as our chapter and UAB’s chapter for one common goal is so amazing to me… I love our sisterhood and our philanthropy so much.”
