MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo Track & Field opened up their season at Berry College last Saturday in Rome, Ga. The Falcons had 20 athletes get on the podium, with 4 school records being broken as well.

Christopher Johnson threw a school record 54.32 meters, or 178 ft, in the discus throw, winning the event. He currently ranks No. 1 in the nation in the event. Jeremiah Fails ran a time of 21.31 seconds in the 200 meter dash, which is also a new school record. This has him tied at No. 2 nationally in Division II.

Fails was also a part of breaking the school record in the men’s 4×400 meter relay, running with his teammates Dwight Bellamy, Patrick Sherill, and Drew Cheslock. The 4 of them ran a time of three minutes and 17 seconds in the relay, which currently has them ranked No. 1 in the Gulf South Conference (GSC).

The fourth school record that was broken was in the women’s 4×100 meter relay, with Destiny Betton, Deserae Thomas, Samantha Bennett and Khila Corrothers running a collective time of 48 seconds, which has them at No. 3 in the GSC.

The Falcons compete again this Friday and Saturday at home. Schedule details will be posted here when available.
