COLUMBIANA, Ala. — The Shelby County Arts Council recently opened their annual High School Juried Art Exhibit on March 23.
The exhibit features pieces from high school students in the 10th through 12th grades from across Alabama. Students submitted entries which were then voted on by this years judges, Tom Wegrzynowski and Colin Williams. The exhibit includes art from several categories such as photography, painting, drawing, and sculpture.
The goal of the High School Juried Art competition is to give students the opportunity to have their work featured in a gallery that they otherwise couldn’t access. It recognizes hard work and talent from students in the arts before they have started their professional journeys as artists.
One winner will be chosen for each category, as well as an honorable mention and best in show. The winners will be revealed during the closing reception on April 26 at 2 p.m. The exhibit is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday from now until the closing reception.
