ALABASTER, Ala. — As you drive down Highway 119 you might catch a glimpse of a soccer field but, if you decide to turn into Veterans Park you will discover a whole world of beautiful scenery.

As you turn in you find another soccer field right next to a playground with swings, slides and bridges to run on.

Surrounding the entire park is a two mile walking trail through forest and around multiple ponds that is lit all day for walking during the day and at night.

When venturing deeper you might just find some of the geese on the property. Feel free to take pictures, but give them some room, they aren’t always the friendliest.

If you have a furry friend feel free to bring them to the park’s Beneful Dream Dog Park. This park in a park has everything you dog could want and more: tubes, bridge, shade, hurdles and a few other friends to meet.

And for all the frisbee lovers there is an 18-hole disc-gold course that spans the entire length of the park. Which requires a few tight throws through trees and a lot of par 3’s (18 to be exact).

But if frisbee golf is not your strong suit there are eight pickleball courts and three soccer fields to play on.

Overall Veterans Park is the place to be for a sporty date, a long walk and talk, a way to get Fido (or the kids) out of the house and many more activities.
