Oak Mountain State Park hosted its annual Harvest Festival last Saturday, a fall time celebration with a focus on wildlife education. Festival goers were able to enjoy food, live music, and browse wares from local vendors. Oak Mountain Park staff gave presentations on snakes and birds of prey.

Formerly known as the Fall Festival, the event is going through some changes under theOak Mountain events coordinator Anna Jones. Screen Shot 2017-10-19 at 11.20.31 PM

“This will be about my third year to have taken it over.” She said. “We’ve just kind of rebranded.” she says.

Jones says she plans to go bigger and better every year, and eventually turn the celebration into a 2-day event.

“We’ve had a lot of interest this year surprisingly in people wanting a Halloween element added in, so maybe we’ll do a second day where it’s more like Halloween. Kind of like a two-for-one: Harvest and Halloween.” she said.

The festival takes place every October and is free with admission to the park.
