The University of Montevallo is starting Spring Break early due to the Coronavirus threat. Beginning Monday, March 16 the will be on Spring Break through Friday, March 27. Classes will move to an online format beginning Monday, March 30.
This is following the news of a confirmed Coronavirus case in Montgomery County, just 84 miles from campus.
Faculty and staff will still report to campus the week of March 16-20.
Classes will resume online Monday, March 30 through Friday, April 10.
The University administration will reassess the threat the week of April 6 to determine if it is safe to return to campus.
Students should take their personal items with them and any materials they will need to complete course work online, by Monday, March 16 at 5p.m.
Students should still take the Student Access Survey sent to your forUM emails so that officials can determine the level of access students will have away from campus.
The university urges students to download the Canvas app on your smartphone in order to stay up to date on your classes. Professors will update their students on how the class will run once everything has been converted.

All sporting events and student activities have been postponed until further notice.
Other colleges in our area like University of Alabama at Birmingham, Samford, and the University of Alabama have all modified the rest of the semester due to the Coronavirus.
