Students at the University of Montevallo have not been in the classroom for two weeks, and they won’t be returning this semester, due to COVID-19.

Distance learning classes began today.

Professors have spent the last two weeks, since it was confirmed that this would be how the semester ended, modifying assignments and preparing for this new way of learning.

But class isn’t the only thing at Montevallo transitioning to an online format.

Students can access the Carmichael Library databases and the interlibrary loan system from anywhere on their website. Librarians are also able to help via chat and email during regular library hours.

Counseling Services is still available over the phone and email during regular business hours.

Disability Support Services is working with their students to insure access to the equipment and materials needed for distance learning.

Student Aid, Career Development Center, Student Conduct, and Student Health Services are also still available at the same number and emails as before the break and can help students during regular business hours.

Student Life can still be reached by phone or email regarding student events, clubs, Student Government Association, and Greek Life.

Clubs and Organizations like Greek Life are encouraged to still meet over Zoom, a video conferencing software the school is using for classes.

Residence Life is available over the phone or email also.

Students who lived on campus this semester were asked to move all of their belongings out of the residence halls as soon as possible. However, you must call first to set up an appointment so that everyone can maintain adequate social distancing.

It will take some time for everyone to adjust to distance learning and assisting the students virtually, but the university is committed to helping their students.
