Finals week for the Fall 2020 semester is underway at the University of Montevallo. Final exams began Monday December 7th and runs through Friday December 11th.
Finals are always a stressful time for students, especially during the time of COVID-19, so the University has provided many resources to help students navigate this stressful time.
In lieu of traditional grading this semester, if students are unhappy with their final grade, there is a pass/fail option available. In this scenario, instead of a student’s grade-point-average being effected by a bad grade, they can choose to receive a P which would have no impact on their grade-point-average for final grades that are C and above.
In addition to taking a P, students who receive a D can request a CR, or credit, which still earns them credits towards their degree but doesn’t effect their GPA. Lastly, students who fail a class can take a NC, no credit, which doesn’t reward a students with credits or effect their GPA.
Grade conversion requests are due December 10th for Fall 2020 graduates and January 7th for all other students.
Additionally, the University’s counseling services are offering help to students who are struggling during this time. I reached out to the counseling stand but due to the volume of students seeking help this semester, they were too busy to comment.

Final grades will be viewable to students Monday December 14th through banner self service.
