MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Department of Communication is hosting the annual Senior Showcase at the Center for the Arts on Oct. 28 at 1-3 p.m.

The Senior Showcase is a component of the communication studies capstone course taught by Dr. Ray Ozley, COMS 499.
The event highlights senior achievements and offers food, fellowship, and Freddie the Falcon.
Originally titled COMS Day, students assembled the event from scratch each year. In ’20, the course was restructured and renamed Senior Showcase.

The transition faced challenges. The necessary technologies to remain COVID-19 safe were rendered useless by the power outages caused by Hurricane Zeta and forced the class to reassemble the event.
“The ways that we, as a program, were able to come together in the face of these challenges speaks to the resilience of the students in this program and on our campus,” Raina Verser, a student from the ’20 class, shared.
This year marks the event’s return to an in-person experience along with the ’20 course revision. The class project focuses on promoting the event through public outreach and social media.

Food and refreshments will be served during the event. Everyone is encouraged to review campus safety guidelines.
Freddie the Falcon will visit from 2-3 p.m.
