If you have adopted a dog or cat and have been having trouble getting your pet to listen or obey you, this article is to help you. When pets are put in shelters, they tend to lose obedience or pick-up some territorial issues from being in such stressful environments.

Not only are they in very stressful situations, but certain breeds need more attention than others, so they get neglected and will start to have separation anxiety.

If you get a pet that has that anxiety and leave them in your bedroom or somewhere another similar space, they will tear anything they can get their mouths on and scratch walls and doors, making it look like you lock them in for days. Now you can go to the vet and get meds that will make the animal be in a drowsy or dopey state, but that’s a more expensive route to go down. You could train them with simple and slow processes.

This photo is showing a good example of what a good training floor should look like. It should have a tile or hardwood floor so that way you have traction while the animals have little to no traction so you can control where they go not the other way around.

If you do train on a carpeted floor or outdoor like a driveway they’ll be able to pull you around and control where they go.

If you had them on hardwood or tile flooring then they can’t get their nail onto anything and slide if they pulled while you wouldn’t budge.

these are a few tips to help house train an adopted animal.
