Main Street

The city of Montevallo hosted its annual Christmas tree lighting and parade on Thursday, December 2nd.

With a bustling crowd, a live music performance by JQs One Man Swing band, and Main Street decorated from head to toe, it felt like a scene from a Christmas movie in downtown Montevallo.

The countdown began for the tree lighting at 5:30 sharp, and the parade began at 6:00.

The parade consisted of floats and vehicles from all around Shelby County, including many churches, fire stations, school and more.

There were also quite a few familiar faces – the grinch and Despicable Me minions just to name a few.

Towards the middle of the parade, much to the crowd’s delight, there was even a real life camel!

The city hosts the tree lighting and Christmas parade every year in hopes of bringing the community together and spreading holiday cheer.
