On Thursday, Mar. 17th UM’s chapter of HerCampus held a self-care event on Main Quad.
The event is one of a two weeklong fundraiser the organization is hosting in support of the city of Montevallo’s Boys and Girls club: its philanthropy for this year.
During the event, students could choose from three different levels of self-care bags depending on how much they donated ranging from one dollar to fourth dollars. Students also had a chance to stop and listen to some of their favorite songs blasting through the speaker at the event.
According to the organization’s website, Hercampus is an online magazine dedicated to writing by and focused on empowering, college women.
Jessie Lemley, current president of HerCampus, discussed the motivation behind the event.
“HerCampus is a very community-centered club, so we wanted to impact Montevallo’s community specifically.”
All the money gained from these events will be donated to Montevallo’s Boys and Girls club, said Lemley.
