Lambda Chi Alpha held their annual ‘Watermelon Bust’ philanthropy on March 10. Their philanthropy is Feeding America.

During the event different sororities and fraternities had a watermelon eating contest, watermelon toss, and a watermelon smashing contest. Someone from each sorority and fraternity competed in each event. There was also watermelon carving.

Jack Branch, the Alumni relations chair, went into more depth on the event.

“We raise food, we raise canned goods, I think we got about 400 pounds today and a couple hundred dollars that we’ll donate,” said Branch.

Lambda Chi was able to raise almost $500 and 200 canned goods.

All sororities and fraternities donated canned goods toward the philanthropy.

The winning fraternity was Alpha Kappa Lambda and the winning sorority was Alpha Gamma Delta.

Lambda Chi’s next event will be “Pumpkin Fest’ next fall.
