Last week the University’s theatre department put on a production of “Ugly Lies the Bone” that was directed by theatre professor, Dr. Bart Pitchford.

This five-person play was originally written by Lindsey Ferrentino and covers a war veteran who has returned home to deal with broken relationships and PTSD.

Throughout the play, they experimented with virtual reality and projections to add to the immersive set to design to set the play apart. They also brought the main character to life with vivid burn makeup.

To make the projections and the use of virtual reality possible, the director joined forces with mass communication professor, Dr. Stephanie Dean.

The whole crew was able to take this as a learning experience by expanding their knowledge of projections. Including Kayla Hampton, the play’s stage manager.

I didn’t know how much projections would be used throughout the entire show, and I’m very surprised about how… like how cool they can look and like all the things you can do with it”

Make sure you look out for the university’s next production of Punk Rock Girl, which is showing from November 17 to 20.
