MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo Subway has been providing healthy sub sandwiches to university students and residents for more than 20 years. Located on Main Street in the center of town, Subway has become a popular lunch and dinner spot for locals and tourists.

Restaurant owner Scotty Reneau owns several Subway restaurants throughout Shelby County, but gives credit to his staff for making his business successful.

“To me, I’m nothing without my staff,” Reneau says.

Leading by example, Reneau is not afraid to get his own hands dirty or help make a few sandwiches during a busy lunch rush.

On March 15, a spring tornado swept through southern Shelby County, causing significant damage in nearby Calera. Reneau and his staff wasted no time prepping sandwiches and meals for residents that were impacted by the storm.

“We donated 15 platters to the tornado relief victims in Calera,” Reneau says, “and tried to go out there and help them as much as we could that day.”
