But these murals and their artists have helped make Montevallo have that small-town charm. From dreamy scenes to historical depictions, Montevallo has it all with these five murals. If you are ever in town add these spots to your itinerary.

“Follow The Light” – 603 Main Street

Artist Emma Gilbert made this mural in November of 2025 in just 13 days. Gilbert mentioned in her caption “I enjoyed the process of this mural SO much but it’s an even better feeling knowing it’s completed.” This mural is inspired by Ebenezer Swamp and the University of Montevallo. The dreamy blue landscape combines naturalistic elements and the community.

In this mural, a woman cradles an glowing firefly in her palm. She is surrounded by birds which features local bird species like the ibis and blue jay and even the university’s mascot, the falcon. “The scene is a subtle reflection of Montevallo’s magical environment, inviting viewers to pause and notice the beauty around them” Gilbert states while describing the elements of the mural.

This mural shows what everyday life looked like in Montevallo’s earlier days. By honoring and preserving our history, many can be reminded of the time before instant connection through smartphones and tablets. With the mural, the actual phone booth is included which features a young woman making a call.
